TV Choice Award

Doctor Who has won two TV Choice Awards, scooping Best Drama Series and also receiving a special Outstanding Contribution Award in honour of the show’s 50th anniversary.
The awards were announced and given out at a star-studded ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Monday, 9th September. The Best Drama Series category was decided by you the audience, so massive thanks to everyone who voted for the Doctor!

NTA Awards



Yes its that time of year once again, The National Television Awards are to be held at the 02 on January 23rd, shown live on ITV at 7.30pm.

Both Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are nominated as is Doctor Who itself, you can vote here , votes have to be in by midday on 18th January.

The last in the series of Adventure Games 'The Gunpowder Plot' won a BAFTA at the Cymru awards last night in the Digital and Creativity section.

However Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures lost out in all the categories in which they were nominated.

Doctor Who won the Best Family Drama for the third year running at the TV Choice awards.

Writer Neil Gaimen won a Hugo award last night for his series 6 story The Doctors Wife in the Best Dramatic Short Form category.

During his acceptance speech Neil said he was indeed writing another script.
"Only a fool or a mad man would try to do it again . . . so I'm on the third draft."

The Queen's Birthday Honours

Actress Jean Marsh (The Crusade- The Daleks Masterplan - Battlefield) has been awarded an OBE. Stuntman Eddie Kidd (Survival) has been given an OBE for his charity work.

The Doctor's Wife has won the Ray Bradbury award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation at the Nebula Awards. The episode was written by Neil Gaiman and directed by Richard Clark.

Showrunner Steven Moffat has been nominated for drama writer award

Series 5 of The Sarah Jane Adventures has been nominated for Best Childrens Drama.

The results will be announced on 20th March

The Award season is upon us once more and Doctor Who and its spin off productions are nominated again.

Best Youth orientaed series on Television (Saturn Awards - Doctor Who)
Best Presentation in Television (Saturn Awards - Torchwood: Miracle Day)
Best Actress in Televison (Eve Myles - Torchwood: Miracle Day)
Best Supporting Actor in Television (Bill Pullman - Torchwood: Miracle Day)
Best Supporting Actress in Television (Lauren Ambrose - Torchwood: Miracle Day)

The results will be announced in Burbank on 20th June.

The Doctor's Wife has been nominated for the Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Performance at the Nebula awards, the result will be announced in May.

DWM's comic strip has been nominated for the EAGLE Award in the Favourite British Comicbook catagory. The winner will be announced on May 25th.

This Week




Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, both won awards in the dramatic performance catagory at this weeks NTA's, also nominated in their respective groups were John Barrowman and Eve Myles.



CBBC announced this week that former Doctor Who Showrunner Russell T. Davies is writing a new science fiction series for the channel, entitled Aliens vs Wizards, this will be produced by BBC Wales.

Doctor Who is up against Downton Abbey and last years winner Waterloo Road, at this years National Television Awards for the Best Drama Award.

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are also up against John Barrowman and Eve Myles in the Best Dramatic Performance Male and Female awards.

We're Back



Back off our holidays and congratulations to Matt Smith for winning the Best Sci Fi Actor award at the Spike Awards.

The voting for the National Television Awards is now open with the longlist closing 17th October and the Shortlist being announced in January. Both Doctor Who and Torchwood are up for Best Popular Drama.

Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, John Barrowman and Eve Myles are up for Outstanding Drama Performance.

Writers Guild of Great Britain



Once again Doctor Who has been nominated for an award with the Writers Guild of Great Britain being nominated for Best Television Drama Series, this is the third time the programme has been nominated, losing out to Being Human for the last two years.

Steven Moffat is also up for the Best Television Short Form Drama awards for Sherlock.

Wednesday Update

At last nights TV Choice Awards Doctor Who won Best Family Drama and Karen Gillan won Best Actress.
Matt Smith lost out to David Tennant who won for Single Father.
