The BBC Press Office have responded with the following statement:

The Doctor Who spin-off series, Doctor Who Confidential, has been a great show for BBC Three over the years, but our priority now is to build on original British commissions, unique to the channel.

Already an Twitter campaign has started to reverse the decision @SaveDWC

Doctor Who Confidential - Night Terrors

The BBC have released details of this weeks Doctor Who Confidential.

The behind-the-scenes show reveals the intricacies of filming outside the studio, with location shoots at a 17th-century country manor in Gloucestershire and a high-rise housing estate in Bristol. The special effects team demonstrates its skill with old-fashioned green gloop, and The League of Gentlemen's Mark Gatiss talks about writing for three consecutive TV Doctors.

Wednesday Update

The New edition of the Radio Times has a rundown on the remainder of the series, written by Steven Moffat, also interviews with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston.

Earlier this year BBC Learning ran a competition for a short story to be filmed, this 3 minute spin off is to air on October 3rd as part of the confidential programme. The winner was written by pupils of Oakley Junior School in Basingstroke.

Steven Moffat had this to say about the winning entry.

I loved the shortlisted scripts, there was so much skill and enthusiasm on display that it was actually genuinely, very, very difficult to judge. There was some really, really skilled writing, it was very exciting how they caught the voice of the Doctor and how they used the always stringent limitations of Doctor Who to their advantage.I come from a family of teachers, I was a teacher, my father's a teacher, my sister's a teacher.

We go back teacher generations so it's hard wired for me to want the approval of teachers, so I'm very, very thrilled that its gone down so well with the schools that took part.

Old Enemies Return

As you can see the Cybermen are back (not so closely guarded secret for the last couple of months). The more observant of you will notice from the pic, that the Cybus logo is removed. It is rumoured that the Cybermen will appear in the 2nd half of the series this autumn, but who knows whats in store this year. Unfortunately we are not getting a Saturday and Sunday broadcast for the opening two parter The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. Have put a transmission schedule onto our website, baring any breaks the first half of the series should finish on 4th June. Also created a section for the recently released Pics from the BBC. No detailed news on Doctor Who confidential for this year yet, but will bring it to you, as soon as possible.
