More Farewells









Friday saw the last day of filming, as previously posted, for Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan, the latter tweeted "And that's a wrap! Bye bye from the ponds. We love you."

The day also said a goodbye to the BBC's Upper Boat studios, which has been the home for Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. This was the first BBC studio complex to be dedicated to drama.

Production now moves over to the new purpose built studios at Roath Lock.

Weekend Update #1




Steven Moffat has confirmed that series 7 will have an unbroken run next year when it returns in the autumn.
The BBC Studios at Roath Lock are open for business 14 months after construction started. Causality is already in production, after moving from their Bristol base. Other productions to move to the Cardiff Bay complex will be the Welsh soap opera Pobol y Cwm , Upstairs Downstairs which starts filming soon.

Doctor Who will move from its current studios at Upper Boat in time for the commencement of filming series 7.
The facility is has reportedly the biggest green screen in Europe.

Wednesday update


Constructing of the new drama village in Cardiff has been underway for some months now. Doctor Who is supposed to move there in spring 2012, along with The Sarah Jane Adventures in 2012. So it looks as though Sarah Jane will be around for some time - but this has to be confirmed.
